Relapse is a critical issue facing every person who has a drug and alcohol addiction. It is commonly recognised that 70% of people in drug and alcohol recovery will relapse.
Using an evidence based approach, the Spacious Places Relapse Prevention Programme aims to equip each client with the knowledge and understanding of the process of relapse. Weekly session are embedded in our recovery programme timetable and cover subjects such as:
- The Process of Relapse
- Decision Making & Problem Solving
- Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (The Symptoms of stopping alcohol and Drugs)
- Mapping and Avoiding High Risk Situations
- Identifying and Overcoming Triggers to Using
- Understanding Anxiety and Stress
- Managing Cravings
The fundamental message that runs through the Relapse Prevention Programme is that Relapse into drug and alcohol use is not the end of recovery, but can be an experience to learn from to improve the chances of sustained sobriety.
